How to feel WARMED.
Thinking back through the days and nights in my life on my assignments around the globe that were snowballed in adventure, danger, peril, sorrow, emotion and survival.
Thinking back on all the extremely kind and loving souls who risked a lot, did a lot, and saved a lot - in their overwhelming help they shared with me when I didn’t know I needed them most.
There is a list in my life, of all the places I’ve wandered into, and all the places I’ve stumbled into at the end of a day or night either damaged, injured, lost or hurting. Places like rundown hospitals, abandoned buildings, and old hotels that took me in just so I could rest and breath.
This beautiful woman here - Africa. I ran into her hotel lobby, injured and hungry. No questions asked, she put me in a room, made sure I was fed and taken care of for a few days before left to head back out. She had taken my dirty and blood stained clothes and washed them with her hands. I woke one morning and she had left me a variety of cleaning supplies so I could refurbish my cameras. I was soon healed and ready again. She said her goodbyes to me with a long hug, and a blessing. And per the stories of our lives, we would never cross paths again.
I believe all of us in some way or another, are haunted by the things that follow us. I believe in some way or another, we’re all blessed just the same, by the those memories turned beautiful, that somehow walk kindly through the swallows of our hearts.
Be kind to one another. Give and share your love, you never know when someone needs it most
