2,5 weeks post show 💫

My weight (which was at 44,1kg/97,2lb this morning) has been fluctuating between 43.7kg (96.4lb) and 45.1kg (99.4lb) (post all-you can eat sushi) the past week which is not much above stage weight (43.6kg/96.3lb). For reference I’m 5’1 and I’m currently doing a reverse diet, meaning I’m steadily increasing my calories and decreasing my cardio with the goal to increase my metabolic rate.⁣
⁣
That my weight is still quite low is actually a good sign as I've already increased carbs by around 80g, fats by around 10g & had 3 completely untracked days eating between 3000-4000cal. ⁣

For most competitors the weeks & even months post show are freaking tough because following a competition your body begins to naturally drift away from that "perfect physique“. The package you bring on stage is simply not maintainable & whilst it looks great and is super instagrammable of course - a certain amount of body fat is ESSENTIAL for a healthy body. Post-competition blues is a serious issue especially because many first-time competitors go into their first competition not even being aware of it. ⁣ ⁣
When you prepare months for a show, you always have this end goal & deadline you work towards. This gets you through the difficult times of prep and helps you to stay focused. You also go through a transformation that only few people will ever experience & you get used to your body being very lean.⁣
⁣
For months you see your body “improving“ & when the day of the competition arrives (and regardless of the outcome) at the end of the day, it’s over! The next day you wake up & that 1st meal or cardio session is not a "must" anymore. All of a sudden you don't have a „deadline" anymore.⁣

I think that’s why it’s so important to set offseason goals & to realize that bodybuilding should NOT to be "outcome based“. It’s a lifestyle and an on-going process to improve & work on yourself. Setting new goals, e.g.strength or performance related, and especially reverse dieting are a great way to avoid some of the common pitfalls you see with almost everyone who competes(eating disorders, hormonal problems, body dysmorphia, mental/emotional issues). ➡️contiued in comments👇

Just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s normal. 
It’s COMMON in our society to be sick, stressed, frustrated, unmotivated, or complacent. 
It’s not NORMAL, and it doesn’t have to be this way! I’m not saying that to make anyone feel bad, but to give them hope that they can change it. When I started really thinking about life and what I wanted it to look like, I started being deliberate and intentional with my actions. I didn’t just follow the status quo. Even though it was scary, I had to leap from what everyone around me was doing and do what was best for me. That was the start of my personal development and what led to a feeling of abundance, self acceptance, health, and utilizing my full potential. Now that I feel this way I want everyone else to feel it too! What’s the first step you can take?

Just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s normal. It’s COMMON in our society to be sick, stressed, frustrated, unmotivated, or complacent. It’s not NORMAL, and it doesn’t have to be this way! I’m not saying that to make anyone feel bad, but to give them hope that they can change it. When I started really thinking about life and what I wanted it to look like, I started being deliberate and intentional with my actions. I didn’t just follow the status quo. Even though it was scary, I had to leap from what everyone around me was doing and do what was best for me. That was the start of my personal development and what led to a feeling of abundance, self acceptance, health, and utilizing my full potential. Now that I feel this way I want everyone else to feel it too! What’s the first step you can take?

We have always been encouraged to love & accept ourselves yet are constantly having diets, fitspo, the body ideal, cosmetic surgery ect thrown in our faces, essentially telling us if you aren’t striving to look a certain way you aren’t fitting the norm. These multimillion dollar industries make it easier to believe that the only way to have positive body image is to change our bodies. 
We spend so much time loathing certain areas of our bodies that we’ve been taught to perceive as flawed. (Stomachs that aren’t flat, cellulite, stretch marks, love handles, arms that giggle, ect) When in fact these so called “flaws” are anything but.

The problem isn’t with these “flaws” the problem is with our culture that encourages us to fear fat. And the truth is you can dedicate your entire life to chasing your dream body but at what cost? What are you willing to do in order to maintain a shape that your body is not biologically meant to be at? Are you willing to commit to forced exercise driven by the fear of weight gain until the day you die? Are you willing to try every single diet until you find the “magic” one & miss out on enjoying foods you love? Are you willing to turn down cake at a birthday just so you can say you’ve been “good”? Are you willing to convince yourself that veggie noodles are better then regular noodles just so you can feel less “guilty”? (Come on guys, zucchini’s are not even close to noodles) You were not placed on this earth to shrink your body until the day you die. You were not placed on this earth to buy into diet companies who are only surviving off your insecurities that wouldn’t be near as bad had they never gone into business! You are SO much more then your body. 🦋
